Under a brilliant blue September sky along the shores of Lake Washington, Michelle and Timur exchanged vows at the Seattle Tennis Club. Everything about this day was beautiful from the picture-perfect views of the Cascades to how the blue in Timur’s suit seemed to fit in perfectly with the surroundings.

I enjoyed working with this couple so much, and it’s always sort of the “cherry on top” when they got such a pretty day for their Seattle Wedding. As we all know, the weather in the Northwest can be unpredictable, but the photos from their wedding provided by Salt and Pine Photography are outstanding.

Since Michelle and Timur live out of town, our meetings were done via Skype. Meeting in person is always nice but not always possible; and I’m glad technology allows us to do so much of the planning virtually. Even though I had only met Timur once in person and Michelle not until the wedding day, it made it feel so much more familiar to be able to connect online. And with everything that is going on, of course local clients are opting more and more for virtual meetings these days as well. Schedules are tight and time is scarce, so I’m always happy to meet clients wherever it’s convenient.

Leading up to the wedding, Michelle and Timur really took the time to think through what was important to both of them when it came to music and events on their wedding day. When the couple comes together to make sure all the little touches are right for them before the wedding day, it makes for a more successful event.

When we worked together on the order of the night, they had special songs and Spotify lists at hand, and we were able to craft a schedule that flowed and had plenty of room for sunset pictures, visiting guests, and of course – dancing!

Michelle and Timur also included in their timeline a Karavai Ceremony, which is a wedding tradition in Russian culture. Karavai is a round bread that is served to the bride and groom by happily married women – in this case, Timur’s mom. The Karavai is round to symbolize the sun and marital happiness. Much like our American tradition of feeding the cake to each other, the bride and groom feed each other a small piece of the bread.

I have to mention that much of the success of Michelle and Timur’s wedding was also due to their amazing wedding planner Kirstie Warren from Simply Wed (she is awesome!) and the amazing staff at the Seattle Tennis Club and their and attention to detail. This venue is not only picturesque, but the service is always impeccable and the food is outstanding. They place a great emphasis on fresh, locally grown and organic cuisine. So if you’re looking for a wedding venue that has an elegant atmosphere and astounding waterfront views, put the Seattle Tennis Club high on your list.

We didn’t have a lot of dancing time and they had a lot of songs on their to-play list, so our carefully curated playlist (at the bottom of this post) did exactly what we set it out to do because once the party started, it didn’t stop. I always tell people you know you have a good party when the dance floor is full, and people dance on the carpet around it!

Michelle and Timur, it was my pleasure to get to know the two of you over the last year, and I’m so glad that we were connected. Your wedding was full of love, and it radiated joy. Best wishes for a happy life together, and thank you for choosing Affairs to Remember.
